Late night training never stopped me
By zach even - esh

Yes, it's late at night, almost 10 pm, and I could easily call it a day.

But if I did that, I'd barely ever work out!

Fatherhood allows little rest, yet requires serious strength, dedication and tougness

here's my Fatherhood workout....

KB clean and press ladders, 5 reps each, little to no rest between each set!

1) Kb clean and press: 36 lb, 44 lb, 53 lb, 62 lb, 70 lb, 88 lb

That's 6 sets of almost non stop clean and presses, GREAT for cardio and strength endurance!

2A) double KB bent over row 3 x 6 - 8 reps @ 70 lbs 2B) mixed grip pull ups 3 x 5 reps 2C) glute ham raises 3 x 7 reps

As always, short but deadly :)

Keepin' the fire alive!

Go to bed or work out?
By Zach Even - Esh
Wednesday, Dec 13, 2006 04:54
Last night was a loooong night....

I was watching my daughter and my wife went food shopping...late at night.

I was determined to get in a work out regardless of the time. Well, my wife got home a little after 10 PM, we unpacked her car and I returned to finish some work.

By the time I finished and began training it was just after 11 PM at night!

I had to train, so here's what I did:

3 rounds of 1: bands were: Purple band attached to Rolling Thunder

1A) double band snap downs x 20 reps 1B) double band rows x 20 1C) double band chest presses x 20 1D) double band leaning tricep extensions x 20 1E) 2 hand KB Thrusters x 10 reps (grabbing the KB by the ball)

You might be wondering why all the band training? Truth be told, many of the old time strongmen did use heavy duty cables / bands for their training in addittion to the Underground implements.

You'll see more of these workouts popping up in our "old school" section at http://undergroundstrengthcoach.com

3 rounds of 2

1A) TNT cables - rows x 20 1B) TNT chest presses x 20 1C) TNT alternating military press x 5 ea. 1D) skater squat plyos x 6 ea. 1E) mixed grip pul ups x 6 - 8

I stayed away from free weights and cranked out plenty of band and bodyweight training

Rule to follow at http://undergroundstrengthcoach.com: There is no such thing as too late to work out!

Dedication!!

best,

Zach Even - Esh

Workouts for the Mental Edge
By Zach Even - Esh
Saturday, Dec 09, 2006 11:32
So I decided to back away from the heavy weights for the month of December but I still can't back off from the intensity every single workout.

Sometimes I lower the overall colume and intensity and other time I crank it up and pour it on. Here's what I did today to make sure I keep that edge:

Four rounds of circuit 1

1A) TNT Cable 1 arm row x 10 ea. 1B) TNT Cables 2 hand row x 15 1C) TNT Cable chest press x 15 1D) bodyweight forward lunge x 10 1E)bodyweight reverse lunge x 10 1F) squat jumps x 10

That was an ass kicker, I definitely could have stopped, but this just wasn't one of those days!

4 rounds of circuit 2:

2A) Chest Slap Plyo Push Ups x 10 2B) TNT cable curl & press x 5 2C) power wheel roll outs x 10 2D) skater squats x 10 ea. 2E) mixed grip pull ups x 8

If you ever find yourself getting "soft" then pour it on and up the intensity!

It's good for the mind and good for the body!
